Impact Solutions Ltd is a Malawian based company specialized in IT Security solutions, like wireless video, perimeter protection and access control. According to Mr. Bram Fudzulani the company's Technical Director the company expects the Malawi market to benefit a lot for this cutting edge technology, which will see Impact Solutions limited bringing newer technologies from Bioaccez into Malawi.

Bioaccez Controls has just released a new innovating bracelet, the “kyroBAND” ideal for the patient identification with or without RFID.
This bracelet is completely made with hypoallergenic and biodegradable materials. The ribbon around the wrist is weaved in paper thread, a natural product that doesn’t cause any allergic reaction and is biodegradable after a few weeks of use.

The bracelet is made of clips that can’t be opened again once they are closed for the first time. This plastic system is also fully biodegradable.
Identification bracelets are used in a lot of residences and hospitals to avoid confusions in the management of drugs, medical tests or interventions. They are products that increase the patient security.

All the bracelets used are made of plastic or derivates (PVC, vinyl, etc.) and in some people this represents a problem because they can cause sores in the wrist.

Therefore, some bracelet systems aren’t reliable enough to be used in mental healthcare centers, where the patients use to break the bracelets if the lock system is too simple.



The new bracelet resolves and improves some of the actual technical problems because:

- The paper textile is 100% non-allergenic and has a soft touch.
- The paper-made biodegradable ribbon is very resistant even when washing.
- The closure system can’t be opened once it is closed so the ribbon must be cut to release it.
- The biodegradable bracelet contributes in decreasing the hospital wastes.
- Inside the plastic lock there is space to introduce a passive radiofrequency chip. This way, it isn’t necessary to use different types of bracelet because the same model can be used as tag or ID.

The bracelet has multiple uses. The ribbon and the lock can be used as ID, writing directly into the plastic or paper (which is the usual in most of the centers). They can be used to set active tags or as an identification system using passive RFID tags. The passive RFID tags can be read with a portable reader or a Palm, for example, from a few centimeters.

The tags allow the aperture of doors, gates and barriers in a "handsfree" way, even if the user is a vehicle or a single person.

This innovating system shows us that the tecnology is evolving to offer all the confort to the user. In fact, there is no need of using neither a "remote control device" nor a proximity card to open and close. With this system, the people with their tags are detected directly through the antenna at the established distance.

Bioaccez will participate at the brokerage event of this important healthcare market and will present the results of their R&D&i activities, a series of passive RFID  tags working in the UHF frequencies, used in people's identification. Bioaccez Controls has developed a new passive RFID tag for long range use, allowing identification of people in a reliable way. It excels all the existing UHF tags and inlays when the application requires very close use to the human body.
One of the main advantages is that our tag allows the use of automatic recognition systems in the identification of people due to the long range and the reliability of the reading. In the case of recognition systems in the health sector for instance, possible inaccurate human reading of a tag from a handheld reader or PDA etc is avoided. This thereby makes the recognition process automatic and without human influence. This means that it offers the benefits of using active tags, but uses passive tags and dramatically decreases the cost per unit.
The tag is made using EPC Class 1 Gen2 compatible chips. It is thereby also compatible with the standard readers on the market and can be used in conjunction with other UHF tags for identifying medication, blood or other healthcare material.

The access has been established with 13,56 MHz proximity readers. The different zones to access are managed by the access control software SOFT-DIRECTOR which permits to assign the access rights to the different zones from a control PC. The C-QUAD controllers can be programmed easily with the help of a software and a PC, but it is not necessary to keep it online for the system to work because the controllers are capable of memorizing the access rights and the movements in its internal memory.

The access to the many areas is controlled by ACCEZ-1000-AUT standalone controllers with a capacity for 1000 users which is clearly enough to resolve the access of the hospital which is about 100 people.

Next to every door there are proximity readers, which are included in the price Accez-1000, and the ACCEZ-TAG are also used. These low-cost proximity electronic keys are really comfortable to carry and you can even wear them as a pendant in the neck.

This way the number of unauthorized people inside the restricted areas has been greatly reduced.
